The novel textile material was created after two years of research in Jalisco and Aguascalientes. It is a sustainable alternative, free of animal cruelty, with the technical specifications required by the fashion, leather goods, furniture and even the automotive industry.
Mexican entrepreneurs Adrián López Velarde and Marte Zázares developed this vegan skin with nopal, which was a sensation at the last edition of the International Lineapelle Leather Fair 2019, which was held in Milan, Italy.
This textile material offers a sustainable alternative, without cruelty to animals, free of toxins, phthalates and PVC. It is also partially biodegradable and meets the technical specifications required by the fashion, leather goods, furniture and even the automotive industry.
The nopal skin is very resistant and its durability is around 10 years, so it can replace the use of animal leather and other synthetic materials that are not friendly to the environment.
The global need to find quick solutions to the climate crisis and pollution problems has led many entrepreneurs to pursue low-impact and sustainable solutions in all possible areas.
