New system to transform sea water into drinking water

The Mexican Jorge Andrade has been a research professor for more than 30 years. In the last two years he developed the invention of his life: a system that transforms salt water into fresh water.

The former director of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY), has already patented his creation after completing the tests and verifications.

The system uses the “Dean vortex” centrifugal reverse osmosis technique to desalinate seawater and make it drinkable, making the process low-cost, as well as helping to save electricity and have a low impact on the environment.

Sea water has 35 grams of salt per liter, while waste water has 50 to 60 grams of salt per liter, which could be problematic for the environment where it was deposited, whether it be sea or land. But the very complete system, once the "transformation" process ends, the excess water is returned to the sea, to avoid impact on the marine flora and fauna.
