Science will show the world for the first time today, Wednesday, the image of a black hole.
This will take place during a global press conference that will be broadcast from Brussels and that can be seen simultaneously in Washington, Brussels, Santiago de Chile, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo and Madrid.
In the case of Argentina, it can be seen at 10am.
From today, the images of this physical phenomenon will be true, and not an approximation to reality through illustrations. Very soon at least its shadow can be captured, because not even light escapes from the great black hole. The surrounding matter illuminates the "shadow" of the hole, revealing the shape of space-time.
The European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Synchronized System team focus on two holes, one is the “Sagitarius A *! (in the heart of the Milky Way), and the other is that of the giant elliptical galaxy M87.
The great revelation will be the ability that the EHT developed to create a virtual telescope, as large as the Earth, using radio antennas from all over the planet, and that will allow to visualize the entire event horizon of black holes, such as what the EHT project team describes on their website www.eventhorizontelescope.org
