Carrefour allows customers to use their own containers to combat plastic

The Carrefour supermarket chain has launched the campaign
#Reuse in Spain to reduce the consumption of packaging and promote the use of reusable packaging.

From yesterday, Thursday, customers who so wish, will be able to bring their own containers, containers and bags to make purchases in the bakery, butcher, delicatessen, fish and greengrocers.

The conditions for these containers are that they must be transparent with a lid, and they can be made of glass or plastic. Once the purchase is made, the food is wrapped in paper, labeled and served in the customer's container. In the case of bulk fruits and vegetables, the consumer may use their own transparent bag or net.

The reduction of plastic waste requires joint actions between companies and consumers. That is why this proposal of the company that offers a more sustainable alternative to the consumer.

Other company initiatives

Carrefour has also developed various initiatives such as the launch of the first recyclable and biodegradable tray for fish products, it has reduced the weight in the packaging of ready meals, of the bags used in greengrocers, of the sachets of delicatessen products or in the cap of some water bottles, among other measures.
