The Swiss ship "Race for Water" left Lorient, France, on an expedition around the world in five years with the mission of fighting against the plastic waste that pollutes the oceans.
The foundation of the same name in charge of the project reported that the ship, similar to the solar plane "Solar Impulse" of the Swiss Bertrand Piccard, will use only the sea, the sun and the wind as sources of propulsion during its trip, which will include about 20 stages .
The first stop will be in the Bermuda Islands, with the idea of arriving on time for the America's Cup.
The next big stop will be Tokyo, where "Race for Water" will attend the 2020 Olympics, and the third will be Dubai, where the team will attend the World's Fair in 2021.
The journey will take the ecological boat through Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, San Diego, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Koror, among other stages.
