Total nuclear disarmament, thousands of tons of uranium and plutonium are a monstrous problem

This accident released as much radioactivity as in Chernobyl or more. The misfortune was that the radioactivity fell into a very small location, a corridor 90 kilometers long. A total of 26 tons of plutonium was buried in Majak, which was confirmed in 1998. It was a secret project at a time when nothing in the USSR could transcend the public domain. Later the radioactive waste began to be diverted to a small lake, the Karatschai. But in 1967 the lake dried up and the highly radioactive dust spread over an area the size of Belgium. Even at the end of the 1980s, anyone who stayed in that place for an hour received an irradiation of 6 Sievert, that is to say, a fatal dose.

Based on this, if total nuclear disarmament were suddenly called today, we would have a serious problem: How do we get rid of all the radioactive material that remains? That is, 1,300 tons of uranium and 1,000 tons of especially harmful plutonium.

In those years the areas of nuclear experiments were mostly on small islands in the Pacific or in some desert, which means that at all times they were aware of the danger. For example, in Semipalatinsk, in present-day Kazakhstan, 464 atomic bombs were detonated. The report of a nurse in the area confirmed how the earth was shaking and people suspected that atomic bombs were exploding. He also recounted how many more cases of cancer, especially childhood cancer, reached the hospital in that area than should be normal. From every three deliveries a child was born with malformations, there the rate of leukemia is clearly high.

Nuclear experiments were carried out on Bikini Atoll during the 1950s. The atoll was then evacuated, but in 1970 the population was returned to the site, in the hope that they could withstand radioactivity. But the atoll had to be evacuated again, because the radioactivity was so high that people were getting sick. With all this, it is concluded that humanity is really sitting on a powder keg. In the desire to be more powerful than the neighbor, or for fear that the neighbor is more powerful than me, millions of people have been kept in a deception and in constant danger. This is without counting the unscrupulousness that such bloody practices involve towards Mother Earth. The hypothetical that one imagines that the Earth at some point will rebel, should not surprise us.
