Do you know the Superfoods?

Do you know the Superfoods?

In the world in which we live, many internal and external factors force us to acquire bad habits of life. One of them is poor diet.

Fast food restaurants can be found on every corner, and frozen and processed food - packed with harmful preservatives - is much easier to purchase or prepare than healthy food.

For this reason we must correct these bad habits if we want to protect our health. One way to do this is to increase the consumption of so-called "Superfoods".

Superfoods: the basis of a healthy life

All foods, of whatever type, contain some nutritional value, whether high or low. However, there is a class of foods that are so good for your health, so rich in nutrients like vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; and that they contain so many extraordinary healing properties that they are called Superfoods.

Not only that: these foods are also rich in so-called phytonutrients, which help in the elimination of toxins and wastes from the body, keeping diseases at bay.

The main superfoods are of plant origin, although some animal extracts are also included, such as fish fat, whose Omega 3 prevents coronary heart disease. Thus, all those processed products that offer vitamin and mineral additives, although they provide some support to the body, cannot be considered superfoods, due to their chemical content.

A superfood is never processed and should preferably be eaten raw — to avoid loss of nutrients. These are some examples of superfoods and their many therapeutic and nutritional uses.

Superfoods against cancer

Garlic, tomatoes and red fruits, among others, are foods with proven anticancer properties, thanks to their high concentration of vitamins and antioxidants. In addition, it has also been proven that the antioxidant action delays aging - especially that of the skin - so these superfoods will not only keep you healthier, but also younger.

Superfoods for the heart

The sprouts and nuts have properties that prevent the appearance of diseases of the cardiovascular system. The latter, rich in unsaturated fats, are excellent for the proper functioning of the circulatory system, since they keep it free of blockages, and also for a light and smooth digestion.

Superfoods for nutrition

In addition to those mentioned above, which are also abundant in nutrients for our body, some superfoods specialize in the task of keeping us well fed. Everyone's favorite is, of course, chocolate; especially dark chocolate, which has a high concentration of antioxidants and very little cholesterol, which makes it a very healthy snack.

The seeds are also an invaluable source of protein, carbohydrates and minerals that give us the strength to carry out our daily activities. Likewise, plants such as the different varieties of Stevia serve as natural sweeteners, without the calories associated with sugar, and their use is recommended, especially, in foods intended for people suffering from diabetes.

Another superfood whose popularity is increasing is Spirulina, a dietary supplement made from bacteria rich in proteins that we can take advantage of almost totally, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that - along with its very low level of toxins - make it a food with amazing properties and benefits.

Bring superfoods to your table

With so many options, we have no excuse for not eating healthy. Introduce at least one of these superfoods into your regular diet and be amazed at its effects on your health and well-being.
