How to make homemade fruit-based flavorings?

By Cherry Bomb

In addition to being an excellent source of vitamin C, citrus fruits are the fruits for the home par excellence, since their pleasant aroma stimulates the senses, providing a feeling of freshness and energy to the body. For this reason, aromatherapy experts recommend having at least one flavoring based on these foods at home, to start the day with a good attitude and without laziness.

Fondue flavoring

To make your own fruit-based flavoring you must have the following ingredients on hand:

  • Candle heating container
  • Citrus (lemons, oranges, tangerines)
  • Herbs (mint, rosemary or thyme)
  • Cinnamon and cloves (to taste)
  • Flavoring branches (pine or cedar branches)
  • Extracts (vanilla, mint or almond)

Preparing this flavoring is very easy: you should only use a container that you can heat with a candle (fondue type). You can usually get it at pottery or home decor stores; If you can't find it, don't worry, you can also use a small pot as a replacement.

Once you have this ready, you must add all the ingredients and mix them with water and put it to heat a little so that the smell begins to spread rapidly through your home. Remember that water evaporates, and you should add a little more of it when you consider necessary. Also if you want to keep these essences you can refrigerate it for 1 or 2 days in the fridge, just remember to pack it in a jar suitable for it.

Aromatic diffuser

Now, if what you are looking for is a fragrance that you can leave a long time in your home, then the aromatic diffuser is the ideal for you. For this recipe you must keep the following products in mind:

  • Glass jar with small mouth
  • ¼ cup rubbing alcohol (topical)
  • ¾ cup of water
  • Wooden skewers (5)
  • 20 drops of essences (vanilla, mint or almond)
  • Lemon, orange, tangerine, or grapefruit peels
  • Herbs (mint, rosemary, cinnamon, cloves, lavender)

Start by placing the herbs in the bottom of the container, put the amount you consider necessary. Once you have done this, slice the peels of the fruits into small, thin pieces. Put them inside the jar. After this you must add the water and isopropyl alcohol and add the drops of essences. Stir to mix the ingredients and finally place the wooden skewers so that half is inside and the other part is outside the jar. This preparation will refresh your home for at least 30 days.
