Volvo's first electric bus already on the streets of Sweden

In mid-June, it can be seen in circulation on Route 55 between the Lindholmen Knowledge Center and Chalmers / Johanneberg in Gothenburg. This new route will be traveled by three fully electric buses and seven electric hybrids, all belonging to Volvo Buses.

The vehicles are equipped with lithium batteries that can be charged with renewable electricity very quickly at their terminals. The energy consumption of electric buses is approximately 80% lower than that of diesel.

The new route is the result of the project of the cooperative company known as ElectriCity, which develops innovative solutions for a future sustainable public transport. Before going into regular operations, Volvo's new electric bus will also be exhibited during the ”UITP” public transport fair in Milan, from 8 to 10 June. UITP brings together public transport buyers from around the world who come together to see and discuss the latest developments in the industry.
