During her participation in the presentation of BIOCórdoba 2014, which takes place between October 10 and 18, Ana Romero congratulated farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs in general, who have contributed to Andalusia holding almost all the record figures in this sector, from cultivated hectares to establishments.
In addition to leading the ecological area, Andalusia has more than 3,300 ecological livestock farms and is the first Community in terms of ecological industrial activity, with 1,238 industrial activities, which represents 28.14% of the national total. "These overwhelming figures are the result of the efforts of men and women, with the support of the Andalusian Government," through different initiatives, including the Andalusian organic farming plans implemented since 2002, the director stressed. Only the II Andalusian Plan for Ecological Agriculture (2007-2013) has allowed, among others, the investment of more than 300 million euros to support ecological productions, help the transformation of products through industries, promote consumption internal ecological products and promote research and control and transparency systems of certification, he stressed.
