Nazca Lines destroyed: lawsuits against invasions and illegal mining opened

Through a statement, this sector reported that there are currently ten open trials in the Judiciary against invaders, initiated by the Ministry of Culture.

He indicated that in coordination with the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Ica, the Ica Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines has carried out interdiction operations to mining processing plants that operate in the Nazca pampas, closing several of them.

Specifies that the protected area has a total area of 5,633.47 square kilometers and covers the entire province of Nazca and Palpa, as well as part of the province of Lucanas, in Ayacucho.

Due to this large area, invasions are difficult to combat and a recurring problem in the area.

“The fight against invaders and informal miners is a complex task, which not only involves the Culture sector, but also the National Police, the Public Ministry, local authorities and the population in general. In this sense, the Ministry of Culture has been working with the authorities through inspections, the preparation of technical reports and the rapid processing of complaints of damage to the protected area, ”he says.
