F-84E Tailpipe

Left-side rear fuselage and ejector (tailpipe) of F-84E at USAF Museum, Dayton, Ohio. Note the warning stencil, as well as the ventral "fin" shape, the tail-light fairing, and that the ejector extends about two inches beyond the end of the rudder. The G-model ejector is shorter, ending flush with the end of the rudder. It is possible this difference may be one of the reasons for the discrepancy in measurements published regarding the amount the fuselage was extended beginning with the E-model. Bruce Craig.
